The HTML5 Communication and Web Sockets Micro Workshop is a highly practical, three-hour micro-workshop about HTML5 Communication. Peter Lubbers will demonstrate how the key components of HTML5 Communication work. He will discuss HTML5 Web Sockets, Server-Sent Events, PostMessage, Cross-Document Messaging, and illustrate how to use these ground-breaking new HTML5 features with practical examples. Peter will then show you how the HTML5 Communication APIs can be extended to create even more powerful real-time web applications, which will work in today's browsers.

As an example, Peter will extend the JavaScript HTML5 WebSocket APIs to communicate using the Streaming Text Orientated Messaging Protocol (Stomp) and use it to create a JavaScript stock ticker application that communicates directly with a back-end RabbitMQ message broker. In the process Peter will demonstrate the powerful simplicity of HTML5 WebSocket API programming and when done you will see real-time TCP-based back-end service communication using HTML5 Web Sockets in action.
